My Story

Walter is an entrepreneurial attorney and a leader who works with startups and companies in the United States and worldwide. He is recognized for his expertise in negotiation and is an innovative problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to develop effective legal strategies. Walter is known for his excellent communication, collaboration, and client relationship-building skills. His strong technical background in engineering enhances his understanding of complex matters and allows him to communicate effectively with management.

After graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Walter worked as an engineer for various companies, including FMC Technologies, Texmarc Conveyor Company, and KVM Technologies. While working as an engineer during the day, he attended law school at night at South Texas College of Law.

Upon graduating from South Texas College of Law, Walter began his legal career at Patterson + Sheridan, where he handled all aspects of intellectual property. For example, he drafted over 150 patent applications, numerous responses to office actions, and collaborated with a team on intellectual property litigations. Additionally, Walter drafted license agreements related to technology and intellectual property.

Walter’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found a company called Benchmark Completions with four other partners. Benchmark Completions specialized in designing and manufacturing oilfield tools. The company was eventually acquired by a private equity-backed company, which introduced Walter to the diverse world of private equity.

Walter was recruited to Intervale Capital, which was rebranded as Amberjack Capital Partners. Amberjack Capital Partners is a specialized private equity firm that partners with entrepreneurs and business owners in the industrial, infrastructure, and environmental end markets. For over 10 years, Walter served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Head of Intellectual Property at Amberjack Capital Partners. He also acted as outsourced counsel for the firm’s portfolio companies. Over the years, Walter was involved in numerous transactions at Amberjack Capital Partners. For instance, he worked with a team to sell a Houston-based waste management company that Amberjack Capital Partners had acquired several years earlier. In another transaction, Walter helped structure a secondary fund, which involved selling assets from primary private equity fund investors to secondary buyers. Additionally, he collaborated with a team to merge an Amberjack portfolio company with a publicly traded company.

Walter met his wife, Amy, when they both attended Penn State University. The couple lives in Houston, Texas, and they have three exceptional children: Augustine, Micah, and Joshua.

Walter is actively involved in his community and remains connected to his alma mater, Penn State University. He has served on Boy Scout committees, participated in sports programs, and contributed to his local church. Walter has also been a member of the Board of Advisors for Penn State Law.
