My Story
Rich is a seasoned transactional lawyer who operated his successful solo law practice for 40 years prior to joining the Fulton Jeang PLLC firm. His decades of experience include representing clients in business and real estate transactions, real estate development, land use planning and zoning, and as outside general business counsel to numerous business entity clients.
His clients include privately held small to middle-market for-profit businesses and business entities, non-profits, real estate owners, developers, and real estate brokerages. He’s provided legal services to corporate and business entity clients with a full range of transactional responsibilities, including choice of entity, preparation of appropriate structural documents and agreements, negotiation and preparation of contracts, legal representation in internal and third-party operational matters and those typically required of a general counsel.
Rich has also provided legal representation for numerous clients in commercial real estate transactions and large real estate mixed-use development projects and has acquired expertise in land use planning, zoning, and entitlements. Rich is licensed as a real estate broker and though infrequently used, has represented buyers and sellers in large commercial (principally vacant land) sales and acquisitions.
Rich loyally serves and is committed to his clients. He has represented several of his clients for over 35 years, and they acknowledge his services as crucial to their success.
Rich has an entrepreneurial spirit. His equity ownership and management participation in a large real estate development project, a shoe manufacturing company, a solar company, and a real estate development company, have provided him with practical business operations and strategies perspectives. To the extent appropriate, he incorporates these perspectives into the legal services he provides to clients.
Rich continually demonstrates his commitment to the community, by volunteering his legal background, knowledge, and experience to community service. He organized, co-founded, and for many years chaired a non-profit that significantly provided a voice for otherwise unrepresented property owners and residents on regional land use legislation and ballot measures, and has provided community land use planning guidance at the highest local levels. He has served on numerous non-profit and community service boards and committees.
Rich and his wife Sue moved from San Diego to East Texas (Flint) in the summer of 2023 to be closer to Sue’s family who reside in the Tyler, Texas area. Rich is an avid runner and enjoys playing golf, hiking, and fishing. He is a dedicated football fan of his alma mater, the Utah Utes, who will make their debut in the Big 12 conference in 2024.
