My Story
Valerie Yanaros is a seasoned litigator and trusted advisor to startups, founders, and growing businesses. With more than a decade of experience in high-stakes commercial and intellectual property litigation, Valerie blends courtroom acumen with entrepreneurial insight. She helps clients protect their most valuable assets—from brand identity to business models—and navigate complex legal challenges with strategic precision and tenacity.
Her practice spans trademark and patent litigation, trade secret protection, commercial disputes, and strategic IP counseling. Valerie is known for her fierce advocacy, creative legal strategy, and deep commitment to leveling the playing field for historically underrepresented entrepreneurs and innovators.
Valerie’s path to law was deeply personal and shaped by formative experiences traveling the world with her aunt and uncle—both accomplished attorneys—who exposed her to the power of advocacy and the importance of global perspective. As a young woman, she discovered her love for legal reasoning and storytelling, and the spark was lit.
With a degree in broadcast journalism and a background in communications, Valerie’s transition into the legal world felt natural. She was drawn to litigation, where she could use her voice to fight for others and protect what they’ve built.
After graduating from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2011, she began practicing in the fast-paced world of IP and commercial litigation. She quickly gained a reputation for being both relentless and empathetic—qualities that built lasting client relationships and earned respect from adversaries and judges alike.
As the founder of Yanaros Law, P.C., Valerie has represented a diverse array of clients with a sharp focus on intellectual property rights and federal court litigation. Her work has taken her into complex multi-party litigation, high-value settlement negotiations, and precedent-setting cases.
Valerie lives in Dallas with her husband and their daughter, and they’re currently preparing to welcome another baby girl to the family. Her world outside of law is filled with bedtime stories, belly laughs, and travel dreams—she loves reading, exploring new cultures, and making memories across the globe. Whether she’s building a legal strategy or planning a family adventure, curiosity and connection are always at the center.
