My Story

Matt Campbell is a transactional attorney focused on federal tax planning, federal tax controversy, as well as business law, private equity and real estate and real estate financing. He is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa. Matt has over 20 years of experience including in Big Law, in-house as a Director of Tax Planning and Controversy of a Fortune 500 company, including prior experience at Big 4 accounting firms.

 

Matt's clients include moderate to high net worth individuals and business owners, as well as private equity firms and both private and public companies. His methodical planning and IRS tax controversy consulting have saved clients millions of dollars in his career.

 

Matt has done extensive work in private placement Reg D 506(b) and (c) offerings, including projects with further consulting involving Federal Opportunity Zone structuring and investment. Matt has done extensive work in the M&A tax space including providing structuring advice and step-plans on various tax-free and taxable reorganizations, spin-offs, and split-ups. He also has consulted within the Section 1202 space to assist company founders to qualify for 100% exclusion from capital gains tax on sales of qualified small business stock (“QSBS”). He has also done planning in the 401k pooled employer plan space to limit the expenses company 401k’s incur and to make certain plan costs are deductible or eligible for tax credits on formation.
